I recently attended a fantastic event for Deise Bloggers, in the Kazbar, Waterford, organised by Rachsbeautique, Jodi Roche Makeup and, Cuddles and Contouring, to promote awareness of suicide and self harm.€450 was raised through donating on the day as well as through ticket sales for some fabulous prizes. All proceeds are going to Pieta House, Preventing Suicide and Self harm. Huge thank you to the three girls for putting such a wonderful event together for such a worthy cause.
Suicide is on the rise, so all and any type of action to spread awareness is vital. If you’re feeling down and you don’t know why…talk to someone, if not a friend or family member, then talk to a doctor or contact the likes of Pieta House. I don’t know anybody that suicide hasn’t affected in one way or another…we need to give hope to people who think that think all hope is gone.
It was a Mad Hatter Themed Tea Party and The Kazbar really pulled out all the stops in creating a really fun ambiance for us. The staff there are excellent and really couldn’t have done enough for us in how they decorated the room, to what they provided us with. There were complementary bottles of water and Heineken on arrival and during the break they had a beautiful spread laid out with homemade scones, jam, cream, buns, teas and coffees. Thank you so much to all at the Kazbar for having us.
Delany’s Pharmacy were at the event with a pop up shop selling some of their brands from Declare to NYX and they also sponsored lots of skincare treats for each of us. They had some gorgeous jewellery and great offers. Super friendly and was so nice meeting them
The first presentation was from the super down to earth Celia O’Grady, founder of Nia Natural Beauty. It’s an Irish company thats 100% natural. I love, love, love natural skincare products, so I was very interested in what she had to say. She explained to us the importance of a regular skincare routine and how not having the time is simply not an excuse. I couldn’t agree more. She went into detail with each of her products from the brand and they really sound amazing. She sponsored an Eye Gel Serum for all attendees and I can’t wait to try. Celia had everyone laughing and her presentation was a great way to kick off the event.
There was a makeup demo from the fab DanielleRoche_Makeup, a freelance makeup artist, who also works on the Urban Decay Counter in Debenhams, Waterford. She did an airbrush makeup with a simple everyday eye look. She talked us through step by step what she was doing, and she worked effortlessly. I loved the finish look. A real talented girl.
The stunning SammyStaceyMUA demoed Tomitago Skincare for us and explained how to use each of the products.. The aim of this brand is to produce 100% chemical free skincare products that are as effective as their chemical counter parts. They are gentle and effective on ALL skin types. All their ingredients are specially sourced and expertly blended to created products which contain NATURALLY nourishing and invigorating properties. The lovely Louise, creator of Tomitago, was also there, to answer any of our questions. She kindly sponsored a facial elixir for each of us. i have tried it before and it smells and feels DIVINE on the skin!!!
Mulligan’s Pharmacy were there on the day as well discussing social media and marketing. They gave each of us a Bloogger Ambassodor Card, They searched each of our names, our blog names and photo. What a lovely touch! I love Mulligan’s, they stock some incredible brands from The Balm, Cailyn, and Sleek. I’ve being going into Mulligan’s for years for prescriptions, make up and the likes and I can’t speak highly enough of all the staff there. So helpful, understanding and informative. I love seeing a local franchise expand in the way they have.
One of the highlight of the day for me was seeing one of my favourite Snapchatters in action, NCMakeup_. She is one super talented girl and is simply a must follow. I could watch her Snapchat tutorials for days. She oozes confidence and has a fab personality to match, definitely one to watch. It was only her second demo, but you could not tell, she answered questions with such ease and had a fantastic stage presence.
One of the best known and creative hairstylists in Waterford, Lyndsey Kelly, MissLyndseyK, demonstrated a “Faux Bob” for us on the beautiful Diane EverrettMua. It really was a work of art…I wish I had recorded the whole thing! Lyndsey really knows what’s what when it comes to hair and she let us in on some of her techniques, from the correct way to backcomb to how to get volume in your hair, even if it’s fine.
At the end Diane did a Q&A and also gave us a little insight into her life and how she began; from managing salons in Ireland and Austrailia, to how she fell in love with makeup. I have been a regular of Diane’s for years and even though she is well known for her incredible makeup skills and creative style, it’s Brazillian and Hollywood waxing, that she does the most. I think it could actually be her super power. She’s fantastic, super quick and puts you at ease so so well. Diane is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to beauty and I think Lyndsey Kelly hit the nail on the head when she described Diane as the “Queen of Snapchat”. If you’re not already following her on Snapchat, climb out from under that rock. You’ll thank me!
There were some fantastic raffle prizes and I was lucky enough to win one!!! And it’s ahhh-mazing!!! I won a 2 hour guided photo shoot with Bara Alich Photography, which includes hair and makeup on the day. I actually cannot wait. Bara Alich is a contemporary portrait photographer, which specialises in women portraiture. They are based in Slieverue, Kilkenny. I will cover my whole experience in a blog post when it’s done.
We got absolutely spoiled with the goody bags, sponsors included Art Deco, Skincode, Waterford Health Park Pharmacy, Ultra Pure Laboratories and soooo much more. I can’t wait to try them all out and I will keep you all posted with blogs on them. At the very end there was a balloon release and afterward, I just took a moment to think about a friend I lost to suicide, and his family.
If this blog post encourages even one person to seek help or talk to someone like Pieta House, it will be a successful blog post in my eyes. Depression, anxiety, self harm, suicidal thoughts are hard to deal with on your own, and I just want people to know that you don’t have to. It’s a lonely road but if we can make people more aware that there is help out there, maybe nobody will have to walk that road for very long.
