I am always on the look out for ways to reduce the number of chemicals I put into or onto my body. The amount of chemicals we are exposed to on a daily basis is crazy!!! From our food and makeup to our hair care and even our toothpaste. I have a 2 part blog already wrote on the subject and they really are worth reading. You will be shocked at what some of our cosmetics contain. You will find Part One here => The Ugly Truth About the Beauty Industry: Part One Part Two here => The Ugly Truth About the Beauty Industry: Part Two
I think everybody should be using a sulphate free hair care range because of the damage sulphates can do it does, but particularly if you suffer with psoriasis, have a sensitive scalp or hair extensions. Sulphates are the ingredients that are added in to many personal care products that cause a foaming action. The most common is Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS). Industrial uses include garage floor cleaner, car wash soap and engine degreaser. SLS can react with other ingredients and form potentially cancer causing nitrates and dioxins. It can be absorbed into the body and retained in the eyes, brain, heart or liver. NO THANK YOU!
Alfaparf is one of the best hair care brands on the market, so it’s no surprise that their latest line “Precious Nature” has hit the nail on the head when it comes to creating a fantastic natural range. I was using their Semi Delino range at the start of the year and you can find read that review here => Want shinier, sleeker hair? Who doesn’t! Look no further than Alfaparf Milano!
I’ve been using the “Precious Nature” range a couple of months now and I’d highly recommend it. IT IS 100% NATURAL!!! YES PLEASE. It has no sulphates, parabens, mineral oils or synthetic colouring agents. They created 5 different lines in this range to suit different types of hair;
- Coloured Hair – Contains Almond and Pistachio
- Wavy and curly Hair – Contains grape and Lavender
- Long and Straight Hair – Contains Prickly Pear and Orange
- Thirsty Hair – Contains Berries and Apple
- Hair with Bad Habits – Fig and Walnut
Here is what I’ve been using and worked a treat for me.
“Coloured Hair” Shampoo and Mask
This line contains almond and pistachio, which helps protect your hair colour and keep it more vibrant for longer. Your colour will take longer to fade and it will prevent it from looking dull. Music to my ears! Almond Oil nourishes and conditions the hair fibre, while pistachio prolongs intensity and shine. The mask is an intensive strengthening treatment and I apply it after shampoo, leave on for about 10 mins and rinse out. Couldn’t get over the softness of my hair from it!
“Hair with Bad Habits” Cleansing Conditioner
This line contains fig and walnut, which helps to repair and reinforce hair with bad habits. Bad habits would include over use of straighteners, over use of curlers or colouring your hair a lot, backcombing regularly. Fig adds new vitality and softness to the hair, while walnut increases the strength of sensitised hair. The cleansing conditioner is for anyone who finds the use of certain shampoos too harsh on their hair when using on a daily basis. It gently cleanses without stripping the hair. Shampoo as normal, leave on for 5 minutes and rinse out. I found that I didn’t have to use a separate conditioner afterwards, so it made showering super quick.
I have bleach blonde hair, so it gets very dry and bitty on the ends. My scalp is sensitive and I would be prone to getting psoriasis from time to time. After my 1st time using I fell in love because the smell off these products is incredible and lasts on your hair really well. My scalp didn’t feel tight or irritated after washing, and my hair was so easy to comb through.
After using about 2 months now, there is a noticeable difference to the condition of my hair. It feels so much stronger and I definitely notice a decrease in the amount of hair that breaks off during brushing. My colour looks so much brighter too, which is hard enough to achieve with bleach blonde hair. I used to have extensions last year and I went through many different sulphate free ranges but none of them compared to this. Alfaparf is exclusive to salons, so you just know it’s going to be amazing. The quality is head and shoulders above what you would buy in the pharmacy or supermarket. Check their website for your nearist stockists => alfaparfmilano.com If you are living in Waterford Alfaparf is available in Llyod’s Hair Salon.
