If you’ve been following me on Snapchat (sarahdwan1), you’ll know I love skincare and I love it even more when it’s natural. I am always on the lookout for incredible brands that utilize natural ingredients in a way to bring about positive, powerful effects on the skin. And that is exactly what Thalgo Marine Beauty brings to the table. I have been using the brand a little over two months now and I love the results I achieved. My skin is glowing and there has been a noticeable difference in my fine lines and wrinkles, which I put down to their mask I was using twice a week.
Thalgo Laboratories was created in 1964 and it is the world leader in Professional Marine Cosmetics. Their research centre is the undisputed expert in marine intelligence and they use exclusive ingredients from the sea, with unrivaled properties, that will have your skin looking younger, more radiant and healthier.
First up, I want to talk about these trio of products (pictured above) for bath and body. I loved the scent of the Marine Shower Gel 250ml €15. It’s so fresh and invigorating while gently cleansing, without damaging the hydrolipidic layer of the skin, which is a protective film that covers entire surface of the skin. Doubles up as a shampoo and it actually neutralises hard water, which is fantastic for people like me, who have coloured hair.
I brought the Delicate Exfoliating Bar with me on nights away for use on my body in the shower, because hotel soap is just a no no for me, as it dries out my skin too much. It very gently exfoliates, and it would definitely suit more sensitive skin types. I think it has been discontinued, as I couldn’t find it on their website, so i don’t have the price.
Their Soft Hydrating Emulsion 250ml €26 has a light, creamy texture that soaks into the skin really well without leaving it feeling greasy. It left my skin feel super soft, and this is because it contains an anti-oxidant that protects the barrier of the skin and has a deeply hydrating effect. It contains iridescent pearlised particles, so I found this lovely applied over tan.
Thalgo’s Ultra Hydra-Marine Mask 50ml €32 is definitely my favourite find from them. It is incredible for dry and dehydrated skin types. But remember dehydrated skin lacks water, dry skin lacks oil, so it is possible to have dehydrated skin even if you’re oily. So this mask is a fantastic all rounder for any skin type.
I have been using it twice a week for the past couple of months and I can visibly see a reduction in the fine lines on my face, due to dehydration. My skin is softer and smoother to touch and my makeup goes on much more evenly. This is like giving your skin a big glass of water…I loved it and will definitely be keeping it in my regular skincare routine.
With the colder weather creeping in, external factors, like central heating, the wind, the fire, can all play havoc with our skin and rob it of it’s essential moisture. Using this type of a product will help combat those external factors and prevent your skin from looking tired and dull. The Ultra Hydra-marine Mask, comes with a built in mask brush, which I think is super clever and something I’ve never came across before. It eliminates the need to buy a mask brush, prevents wastage and ensures there is no mess. It has a lovely thick consistency that feels so luxurious on the skin, I remove with a hot cloth and I love the way it leaves my skin feeling plumper and looking more radiant.
It contains 2 hyaluronic acids, and these active ingredients are vital if you want moisture to stay in your skin. Studies carried out have shown after just 5 minutes skin is rehydrated 87% and the radiance levels are boosted by 87% also!!! Those figures are music to my ears and I love when companies have the science to back up their claims. An absolute gem of a product! Highly impressed with the results I achieved.
Remember if you want to achieve the best results from your skincare please remember there is an order. I’m in the beauty industry 10 years now and I find this is the best order.
Cleanse => Tone => Exfoliate => Mask => Eye Cream/Serum => Face Serum => Moisturise
The 3 products pictured above are only sample sizes so I can’t give a full and fair review but on first impressions I did like them. The Absolute Purifying Mask 40ml €26 and Perfect Matte Fluid, are more suited to combination oily skin types, so i wouldn’t use these very regularly because I have dry skin. However, your skin is changes all the time and I’m a huge fan of multi-masking, so when i did get breakouts, mainly on my chin/forehead/nose areas, I used the Absolute Purifying Mask on these areas only and the Ultra Hydra-Marine Mask, everywhere else. Multi-masking is key and something I do regularly because different areas of our face have different needs. The Absolute Purifying Mask contains witch hazel, algae and sea water which all help towards balancing out sebum levels in the skin.
The Perfect Matte Fluid 40ml €29 is perfect for anyone who suffers with a shiny complexion, caused by excess oil…it turns your skin completely matte and is a great base for makeup application. It contains Lentil extract which helps minimise pores and even out skin texture.
The Anti-Ageing Foundation 30ml €46 not only acts as a foundation but also treats the skin as well as fighting the signs of ageing. It is a little bit pricey but the technology behind it is incredible, rich in marine Silicum and radiance boosting bio-mimetic pigments. My skin felt so smooth and I found it great for covering pigmentation. With regular use, over time you will notice your skin is more firm and toned. The only downfall i found with this is that there are only 3 shades to choose from but you can always mix in shades if you can’t get the perfect match.
Thalgo is a brand I wish I found sooner and if you were to only buy one of the products I mentioned, I’d encourage you to buy the Ultra Hydra-Marine Mask!!! I just fell in love with it. Thalgo is available to buy online here => thalgo.ie or if you are living in Waterford it’s available in Castle Pharmacy. As always if you have any questions at all don’t hesitate to contact me through any of the ways below.
