I don’t know about you but I always feel 100% better about my body and how I look when I’m tanned. I think it makes me look skinnier, sleeker and I always feel more confident in dresses with a dark tan. As you can imagine, because of my love of being brown, I have used A LOT of self tanners over the years, and have had countless spray tans. Some not so good, some good and some ah-mazing! bBold falls into the ah-mazing bracket. I have been using different products from the bBold family since March, when Fiona from Dowling’s Pharmacy sent me out some to try and I can honestly say it is the best self tanner I have ever used. I don’t think it gets praised half enough online as it should and that actually baffles me. Let me talk you through their range, my top tanning tips and my recommendations. bBold is available in Dowling’s Pharmacies Waterford or google search your nearist stockists.
bBold’s Moisturising Lotion €7.95
If you follow me on Snapchat => sarahdwan1, you’ll know I’m all about skincare and I have to tell you when it comes to tanning SKIN PREP is EVERYTHING!!! And when it comes to maintaining your tan SKIN CARE is EVERYTHING!!! I apply this before tan application only on areas prone to dryness; ankles, knees, wrists and elbows. It will prevent the tan sticking to areas of dry skin. The days following tan application apply this all over. This will ensure you get the most out of your tan and will help it last longer and fade more evenly. It’s packed full of skin nourishing ingredients to leave your skin feeling silky soft and incredibly smooth to touch.
bBold Smart Mousse €14.95
This really is a smart mousse!!! It develops AFTER you shower!!! It gives you total control of how dark you want to be. You can shower 1, 2 or 3 hours later and it will continue to develop into a beautiful deep tan or a light tan if you only left on for the hour. I just like to leave on overnight and shower the next morning. There is a colour guide too which makes it so so easy to apply. I’d say it’s near impossible to mess up tan application with this. And for this reason I’d highly highly recommend it for people who aren’t great at doing their own tan or not used to doing their own tan. It is a piece of cake! It’s a mousse, so dries really quickly, which makes it perfect for those of you who simply do not have the time to wait around.
bBold Tanning Lotion €12.95
This bBold Tanning Lotion is my favourite product from the whole range and it’s mainly because no self tanner has ever given me such a beautiful deep dark colour while still looking like a real tan. It’s dark brown creamy texture absorbs really well into the skin, you can see exactly where you’re applying it and the colour reassures you that you won’t wake up to a hint of orangey tones in sight. It’s enriched with cocoa butter, aloe vera and vitamin E, which makes the skin nerd in me extremely happy because as well as turning me a lovely brown colour, it’s looking after my skin too. For me, this is darker than the Smart Mousse but takes longer to dry. However, this doesn’t put me off in the slightest because the colour pay off is phenomenal. I leave on over night and then shower in the morning. I can’t tell you how much I love this tan!
bBold Flawless Legs €7
Sometimes it’s nice for that extra bit of coverage on your legs to use an instant tan like this, especially if you have any little thread veins or even varicose veins. This will help cover them but also make your legs look airbrushed. I did like this product but I didn’t love it and that’s mainly because I felt like I had to use a lot of product to get the coverage and colour payoff I wanted. Now it could be because I had shade “Medium”, so next time I’m going to try shade “Dark” and that could be the solution for me. I’ll definitely keep you posted on that if you like. In the meantime, if you’ve used bBold’s Flawless Legs could you let me know how you got on and what shade you used?!
bBold Spray Tan
Sometimes it’s nice to get your tan done for you, especially if you have a special occasion or big event. I recently discovered that Lulu Belle Beauty Salon located in the Waterford Health Park does bBold Spray Tans and I’m after getting it done twice already. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a regular occurrence for me in the future. Just like bBold’s Self tanners their Spray Tan doesn’t disappoint. A spray tan is only as good as the therapist who does it and Louise who does mine is an absolute pro. Highly recommend her and for only €25 it takes all the hassle out of doing it yourself! Like bBold’s Smart Mousee and Tanning Lotion their spray tan fades so so well! Find Lulu Belle on Facebook here => Lulu Belle Beauty
My Top Tanning Tips
- 24 hours prior to tan application, shave and exfoliate in the shower, moisturise after.
- I like to use exfoliating mitts with my shower gel, this increases cell renewal making your skin smoother and silkier to touch. Removing dead skin cells in this way will ensure a flawless, non patchy tan application.
- day of tan, make sure you DO NOT SHAVE OR EXFOLIATE, it just makes the tan sit in your pores and make them more apparent.
- always apply tan with a mitt,(bBold’s Mitt is only €4), starting at your ankles working your way up.
- After tan, wipe over the palms of your hands and nails with cotton pads soaked in any micellar water, just to be on the safe side.
- for your shower after tan application don’t scrub or wash too hard and apply bBold’s Moisturising Lotion to help prolong it.
I really hope you found this helpful in choosing your next tan and maybe picked up some tips for applying your tan. If you’re not using bBold tonight for tanning Thursday, use it next week and you will thank me.

About Me – Who am I?
(NOTE – This is not a sponsored post and I was not paid to give a good review. It was sent out to me for my consideration and for me to give my opinion on it, good or bad. When I am sent something I use it for at least 4 weeks(sometimes more), research all the ingredients, see it’s effectiveness and then share with you my own experience with the product.
To me the single most important thing about blogging is TRUST and I wouldn’t want to ruin the trust I have built up with my readers by recommending something that’s not very good. I will never put my name to a mediocre product.)
