Be a Queen!

10. Grand Opening of Queen by Lyndsey Kelly

The Grand Opening

The Grand Opening of Queen by Lyndsey Kelly at 15 Bailey’s New Street, Waterford was Saturday night and my God what a launch!!! You really have to see the salon, set over two floors, it is STUNNING! From the moment you walk in you get a sense of luxury and class…from the plush velvet chairs and crystal chandeliers to the huge vintage mirrors and hand drawn portrait upstairs. Elements of Lyndsey’s personality and her unique style shines throughout the salon, and it is clear she has poured her heart and soul into every inch of the place. Her parents, John and Gaby, couldn’t be prouder!

Lyndsey sure knows how to throw a party! She had her very own cocktail designed by the staff at The Reg, called “The Queen” and they had it flowing for the night. We were spoiled with the incredible creations of Cherub Couture Cakes by Anne Marie Cahill Byrne – a cake like nothing I’ve ever seen before, and cupcakes that were so delicious I wanted to hide them from everyone else and take them all home with me!! The Reg had the super talented singer Ryan Sheridan playing at The Church Yard Sessions, which is directly outside the salon!!! The music, the sunshine, the people…it COULD NOT have went better!

There were so many people at the opening, The Reg staff had their work cut out for them but they weren’t phased in the slightest and made sure nobody went thirsty!

Ryan Sheridan is a multi instrumentalist that began busking but soon found his way to being a headline act! His music is brilliant and his passion is unquestionable.

You are a Queen

Lyndsey believes that EVERY woman deserves to feel like a Queen and that there’s no better feeling than feeling good about yourself. I completely agree! I think sometimes we are so busy trying to look after everyone else that we tend to forget about ourselves but as I always say to my own clients, “If you don’t take time out for YOU, you’ll be no good to anyone else.” Book in for your hair, book your makeup, go for a massage, buy the expensive shoes…do whatever it is that makes you happy!!! You may be a mother or a wife or a busy single Mam or a workaholic but that’s not all you are…you are a woman, a Queen! When you book in with the girls they want to make you feel good, have fun and look a million dollars! And you will!!!

Meet the Team

Lyndsey Kelly

30. Grand Opening of Queen by Lyndsey Kelly

Lyndsey Kelly has had a love affair with hair for as long as she can remember. She had a flair for it from as early as the age of 7. She began her professional career in a place called Kaesaries in George’s Court, where she stayed for 4 years. After that she went to Foxy Chopper where she stayed for 8 and a half years. From there she went to Peter Marks before taking the big step to freelance in 2016. Lyndsey has years of experience and her work is a testament to how incredible she really is at hair. I’ve never seen anything like her up styles…they are works of art! She is so creative – headpieces, clip ins, extensions, flowers, hair jewellery, you name it she can use it. She does everything from up styles, down styles, colour, cutting, extensions and creative colouring. She often gives us a little sneak peak on what she’s created on her Snapchat, her username “kellylynz”. With her bubbly and outgoing personality, I’ve no doubt when you book in with her you will have lots of laughs and the best of chats. When Lyndsey Kelly does an up style in your hair you’ll want to sleep in it for a week!!!

Collette Griffin

3. Grand Opening of Queen by Lyndsey Kelly

If you’ve been following my blog for any length of time I’m sure you will know by now I have huge admiration for Collette Griffin. I have been to her many times for makeup and had one on one lessons with her. She is a phenomenal makeup artist and such a good teacher too! She fell in love with makeup at the age of 16, but it wasn’t until her mid twenties when she started to really get into products and how they worked. She discovered how you can really bring out the best of yourself through the proper use of makeup. Collette has being doing makeup 7 years but properly broke in to the industry about 3 years ago, and never looked back. She is known in Waterford for her exceptional makeup skills and is definitely up there as one of the most sought after bridal makeup artists. Her makeup style is timeless, it oozes class and elegance, as well as enhances your best features. I always feel fab after a makeup with Collette. When you book in with her, you’ll know exactly what I mean. Collette is hilarious and her Snapchat is without a doubt one of my favourites to follow, her username is “collettegriff”. I featured Collette on my MUA Focus Series a while back on my blog, where I ask some of my favourite make up artists questions we all want to know as well as feature their work, if you’d like to have a little nosey, you’ll find it here => MUA Focus – Collette Griffin

Amy Williams

4. Grand Opening of Queen by Lyndsey Kelly

Amy Williams discovered that her lifelong ambition was to become a hair stylist after completing her leaving cert. She completed a number of night courses in hair styling and  then attended Waterford College of Further Education for her off the job training. While there, she got the opportunity to express her creative side particularly in terms of glamour and fantasy hair styling. Amy’s proudest moment was winning 1st prize in the fantasy piece section at the Irish Schools Hairdressing Competition in Cork in 2016. An amazing achievement!!! She worked in a hair salon in Mooncoin for four years before joining the Queen Team. I asked her how she felt about her new position and she replied, “I knew the first time I met Lyndsey that her passion for hair styling and her plans for the new salon would give me the perfect opportunity to further develop my skills, particularly in up-styling.”  I’ve met Amy a few times now over the past couple of months and she is a stunning girl, inside and out. She is already a talented hairdresser, and she is going to learn even more from The Queen herself, Lyndsey Kelly. Amy is definitely one to watch!!!
